We don't like IKE...

Well, here we are.. Day 1 of power after Ike. We lost power at around 4:00 am Saturday morning- September 13 and got power back 2:30 am today- September 17. Luckily my parents got power back Saturday so we were ok.

We did have a generator to keep our freezer and fridge running and a fan. (and occasionally we would plug in the TV for Emma..)

So here the damage to the Sailors home:

Our BIG, BEAUTIFUL Oak tree in the back yard... GONE.. Well right now it is only half gone, but we are sure after a tree company comes, they will tell us it has to be cut down.

Crepe Myrtle tree in front- leaning. We will need to prop it back up and tie it. Let's hope it survives!

Rain gutter on back of house... Damaged and will have to be replaced.

That is all. We got very lucky!!!

The girls slept through the WHOLE storm and were not even bothered when I would touch them to make sure they were ok. Mickey (dog) woke me up a few times crying and scared out of his mind. I finally got up with him and laid on the living room floor with him hugging him till he stopped shaking. (this was 2:30 in the morning) James got up around that time to check on things and found us and decided to take him upstairs and sleep in Emma's room. Crazy dog!

We have been living at my parents house the past 4 nights. The girls took it like troopers. Well, who would complain when GaGa cooks anything Emma requests. Mickey Mouse pancakes, Hamburgers (HER FAVORITE!), spaghetti, star pancakes, desserts (chocolate). But after 4 nights, it was nice to come home today to a house with power, computer and phone and get started back to "normal" life.

We are out of school until at least Monday as the district does its part to restore schools that were damaged. (water leaks, loss of covered walkways, portable buildings damaged- some of our schools are in MAJOR rennovation projects so almost the whole school is in portable buildings, so reparing the portables is MAJOR projects for them!)
